Good Planet Foods is bringing a new range of olive oil-based vegan cheese to the food industry, launching in the US this month.
The brand expects the product range to “change the cheese category” and appeal to the growing number of Americans who identify as flexitarian.
It is available in a variety of formats and flavours, including ‘Blocks’, which are available in Italian-Style Mozzarella, Greek-Style Feta and Mexican-Style Monterey Jack.
Also included in the range are ‘Cubes’, available in Tuscan Herb Mozzarella, Spicy Monterey Jack and Sharp Cheddar, and ‘Shreds’, available in Mozzarella, Mexican Blend and Cheddar.
Good Planet said that while many vegan cheeses are high in saturated fat from coconut oil, the switch to olive oil in its plant-based collection allows it to offer the heart health benefits of unsaturated fat and fewer calories than most dairy and vegan cheeses, without sacrificing flavour or performance.
David Israel, founder and CEO of Good Planet Foods, said: “We are thrilled to bring the world’s first Olive Oil Cheese to the market”.
“Made for the foodie in all of us who is looking for new and better, we’re incredibly proud of our Olive Oil Cheese line that is appealing for all, not just to specific diet or lifestyle.”
The Olive Oil Cheeses are launching at Sprouts nationwide this month, and will roll out in Whole Foods and other retailers this autumn.
